শজারু কুরু তার বন্ধু মাকড়সা গেথামকে নতুন বছরে পরার জন্যে একটি পোশাক বানিয়ে দিতে বললো। গেথাম চেষ্টা করতে লাগলো, কিন্তু সমস্যা হচ্ছে সে কিভাবে এমন তীক্ষ্ণ কাঁটাওয়ালা শজারুকে সাজাবে?
Kooru the porcupine asks her friend Gethum the spider to make a beautiful new year's dress for her. Gethum tries, but how can she dress an animal with such sharp spikes?

The New Year is just around the corner. Gethum, the spider has a lot of work to do.
কি করে আমি কুরু'র জন্যে পোশাক বানাবো? গেথাম অবাক হয়ে ভাবে।
“How do I make a dress for Kooru?” Gethum wonders.
প্রথম যে পোশাকটি গেথাম বানিয়ে ছিল তা ছিল খুবই পাতলা।
The first dress Gethum made was too thin.
আর দ্বিতীয় পোশাকটি ছিল খুব টাইট, কুরু এমনকি হাঁটতেই পারছিলো না।
The second dress was too tight. Kooru couldn’t even walk in it.
কুরু কাঁদে আর ভাবে আমার বোধ হয় এবার নতুন বছরে বাড়িতেই থাকা উচিৎ।
Maybe I should just stay home on the new year, thought Kooru.
গেথাম ভাবে, যেভাবেই হোক আমি কুরুর জন্যে একটি পোশাক বানিয়ে ফেলবো।
I will somehow make a dress for Kooru, thought Gethum.
কিন্তু পরবর্তী পোশাকটি তাকে একেবারেই মানালো না। এটা শুধু তার সামনের দিক আবৃত করে!
But the next dress didn't suit her either. It only covered her front!
কুরু গেথামের কাছে কাঁদতে কাঁদতে বললো, আমার গায়ের কাঁটাগুলোর জন্যে কোন
পোশাকই আমাকে মানায় না।
“No dress suits me because of my spikes,” Kooru cried to Gethum.
এখন এটা নববর্ষের আগের রাত। গেথাম সারারাত কাজ করলো। সে একটুও ঘুমায়নি।
Now it was the New Year's eve. Gethum worked all night. She didn't sleep at all.
সে কুরুর গায়ের কাঁটাগুলোর চারিদিকে সুন্দর নকশা করে দিলো।
She wove a beautiful design around Kooru’s spikes.
নববর্ষের দিন সবাই নতুন নতুন পোশাক পরে এসেছে!
Everyone wore beautiful clothes on New Year's day!
অনেক ধরণের প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল আর ছিল অনেক উপহার ও পুরষ্কার।
There were many competitions and lots of gifts and awards.
অবশ্যই, সেরা পোশাকের পুরষ্কারটি কুরু পেয়েছে।
Of course, Kooru won for Best Dress .
তবে সবচেয়ে সম্মানীয় পুরষ্কার ছিলো 'কঠোর পরিশ্রমী'র জন্যে।
But, the most prestigious prize was for the year's Hardest Worker.
